Through erosion rock and mineral fragments are moved and eventually become layers. Old layers get compacted and they turn into rock. Strata are the layers you see in Sedimentary rocks.
Metamorphic Rocks

Metamorphic rocks are rocks that have changed due to pressure or temperature. This is called metamorphism. Most of them form between 2 and 16km below the earths surface.
