Chapter 12-Agents of Erosion and Deposition
-A shoreline is the boundary between land and a body of water.
-A longshore current is a current that moves in a zig-zag pattern on the beach.
-saltation:movement of sand or other sediments by short jumps and bounces that is caused by wind or water.
-deflation:a form of wind erosion in which fine, dry soil particles blow away.
-Continental glaciers are much smoother than alpine glaciers which are more rough.
-Stratified drift is a glacier deposit that has been sorted and layered by the action of streams or meltwater.
-Till is unsorted rock material that is deposited directly by a melting glacier.
-Surf is the breaking of waves near o shoreline.

- A narrow strip of land that formed from wave deposition and is also connect to shore is called barrier split.
-A till describes all types of glacis deposits.
-A cirque is not created by an alpine glacier.
-Lahar is a term used to describe a mass movement that is of a volcanic origin.
-A creep is a slow mass movement.
-Waves break when they are close to shore because the shallow water can't hold them up anymore.
-Some areas are more affected by erosion because they are windier than others.
-Different types of glacial moraines:
lateral-forms along the glacier
medial-forms when valley glaciers with a lateral moraines meet.
ground- form from unsorted materials left beneath a glacier.
terminal-form when sediments are dropped at the front of the glacier.
